:: a birthday dress for a birthday girl ::

February 4, 2011

In the wee hours of the night I finished the Maxi Top/Dress I have been working on for Miss V.  I started it on a bitterly cold January morning and managed to finish it on an evening that was in the plusses.  Weird Saskatchewan weather.

The pretty blue sparkles.

The beauty of the pattern is that it’s designed to go from dress to shirt, so extra wear for the time invested.  The blue yarn is from Knitpicks, but I don’t remember the type or colour.  I threw the papers out (oops).  The main colour of the dress is handspun and dyed by a friend of mine, Kara (who stiiiiiillll hasn’t gotten her Etsy shop going.  Get on that already!).  I’m very happy with how the dress turned out, the way that the blue picks out the tiny bits of sparkle in the variegated yarn and mostly, how quickly it knit up!

I intended the dress to be a special outfit for her first birthday, but couldn’t resist having her model it on the day of her eight month birthday.*sigh* Already?  It seems like just yesterday she was a colicky, cranky newborn ;).

Beautiful 8 month old baby girl.
